LIL LONELY - DI$HONEST ( LIVE SESSIONS W/ #FM2MUSIC)
"I’ve always been a musical sponge, absorbing music from every genre and later applying them to my own work. Before Lil Lonely, I produced under the moniker The Nostalgia Factory; experimenting with post-rock, folk, electronic, and later hip-hop. During this time, I also had a hardcore punk project named Place d’Armes. I think I’ve managed to integrate these influences in the Lil Lonely DI$HONEST EP.
Lil Lonely is very much a character. Someone full of insecurities, naivety, arrogance, and hypocrisy. He’s basically an amplification of my own ego and he’s trying to find his place in the hip-hop and rap community. Lyrically I try my best to stay self-aware about his flaws in context of today’s rap culture. I think there’s a lot to critique about it and fingerpoint; its idiosyncrasies and the dark, absurd humour of what really lies inside this lifestyle.
“DISHONEST,” the title track, is one of the more sincere and, ironically, honest songs off the EP. I’m essentially pointing out Lil Lonely’s fears of being lonely and fake in a form of a love song. At this point in the album I think this is where any form of a facade is stripped away.
I want to make Lil Lonely everyone’s favorite insecure, little asshole."
